FCP won't boot (open)

After a video capture, turned Mac off; tried to get back on FCP later but it won't open. I click FCP it tries to open (loading sequence spins up) but it reverts to the Apple, finder, file, edit view Go....etc) and won't boot open. What's the problem and how do I solve it? I tried reloading FCP but it only did the upgrades and didn't help. Do I need to dump FCP from Mac? How do I remove all remants of FCP? and can I then upload a clean version of FCP since current FCP just spins but won't open.
