mpeg-2 plugin for fcp

I am using fcp 5.1 without compressor installed and wish to export quicktime movies with mpeg-2 codec. Can anyone recommend a good but inexpensive mpeg-2 plugin for fcp?

Not as a plugin, no. Final Cut 4.5HD under QuickTime 6 was the last version that would do that. That's why we still have one machine running like that.

So you're stuck with an external program. Check out MPEG Streamclip from the Apple web site. Media Cleaner or BitVice. ffMPEGx. Google your brains out.
