Dual monitors showing difference in color

Hi All,

I realize this isn't exactly a Final Cut Q, but I figured plenty of folks are using dual monitors, thus I'm rolling the dice with this forum...

I bought a second monitor this past week... its a Samsung 226 BW. The monitor I've already been using is the version from the year before, Samsung 225 bw. I am using these both with a mac pro.

When I plugged in the new monitor, it powers up just fine... my only problem is the color won't calibrate the same as my first monitor. At first, it seemed to be a faulty monitor, but then when I switched around the plug ins on the video card, the color changed.

I'm beginning to believe that it might be a faulty card now, but I figured I'd give this forum a shot before taking in the mac. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You may have made an awkward decision. We have precisely the same model and very close serial number dual monitors bought within fifteen minutes of each other--and we have to struggle to keep them matched.

The Mac OS is perfectly willing to change the colors on individual monitors and try to do it on the fly. We have one configuration where you can move a graphic from one monitor to the other and it takes the system a second to realize what happened and change the colors. It's disconcerting (that's the polite word).

you might try using the pantone spyder.

i have a dell 24 and a samsung 20 and they never even came close even with in depth tweaking with color sync and the onboard controls! once i calibrated them with the sypder - though not perfect by any means at least now are conversationaly in the same ballpark - at least in color

I have 2 Samsung Syncmasters 930b- they match perfectly -

The colors look better than any glass computer monitor that I have used--

they came with a program that is called Sync something??( can remember)
it worked real good--

I am happy with the monitors except Samsung screwed me out of the $200
rebate that I was supposed to get back--
I will never buy anything from them again--Jay--

samsung makes great tvs but i own two of their syncmaster 205bw computer monitors and they pretty much BLOW all round. especially sitting next to the dell 24.
