unbootable computer!

hello everyone

I recently acquired 4 dual 2ghz and 1.8ghz computers for a school program that I ruin. I erased all the HDD and installed 10.4.10 and FCP 5.1 on three of the computers with no problem. The fourth computer, however, has stymied every attempt I have made to get a functional computer set up.

The computer in question:
Dual 1.8ghz PPC, currently 1gb Ram (more in the mail)

I clean install 10.4 - boots up fine
I update the OS to 10.4.10 - boots ip fine
I update QT to 7.1 (i think, 7.1.something) - boots fine
I install FCP 5.1 -- boots fine
I run software update, unceck the QT 7.3 update - Computer freezes on the blue screen during startup.

I ran discwarrior on it and it found some errors, repaired them, but made no difference.

It boots up fine in "safe" mode, which I take advantage of to reapir permissions.

What does "safe" mode "turnoff"? I would imagine that is the source of my problems? Anyone have any other ideas?

thanks!
greg

How did you install the 4th computer OS?
Did you erased the HDD with Disk Utility and made any partition scheme?
If so you disk must have the Apple Partition Map wich allows to be a bootable drive.

Try to boot the Mac with the Alt/Option key, it will show first a diagram with the boot drive if there is any reinstall the OSX again but but shure to check the Parttion Scheme on Disk Utiliy first.
