exporting QT movie with SOURCE timecodePosted by xmasthecat
I can figure out how to do a window burn of source TC, but what about exporting a QT movie that uses source TC instead of sequence timeline TC? I have a lot of small clips I want to string together into longer clips for someone for whom the source TC is necessary.
Thanks in advance, Bryan
thank you. Now does this export a file with a BURN, or with the actual TC? because it's the actual TC I'm after, if possible. And not the timeline TC, starting at hour 01, but the TC from the original source tape
Right now, I'm a little confused; I also tried the burn filter, and it's giving me TC that starts over again at 01:00 for each separate clip. This is not of course the TC from the original source tape. What am I doing wrong? And as a corollary question, how can I get the SOURCE TC to show as a TC overlay in the canvas? thanks B

That's not possible. You're asking for one movie file that contains multiple timecodes from multiple clips. Doesn't work that way. > I also tried the burn filter, and it's giving me TC that starts over again at 01:00 for each > separate clip. This is not of course the TC from the original source tape. If you want the timecode burn to show the timecodes from the clips themselves, you'll have to apply the filter to every single clip in your timeline. Make sure you use Timecode Reader rather than Timecode Generator. I strongly suggest you backup your editing timeline before doing so, or you'll have to remove that filter from your individual clips by hand. > how can I get the SOURCE TC to show as a TC overlay in the canvas? I realize i was unclear in my first post, and maybe even in my second, so to be totally clear, it's NOT a BURN I am after, but a movie whose TC is the same as the TC from the original source tapes.
but even after trying the burn, I am finding I don't know how to get the burn to do the original source TC either! Where is the option in the TC Reader filter to allow you to set it for source? I am simply getting TC resetting to 0 for each clip. thanks. b

Not on the nested sequence, not on the movie file you exported, but on the actual clips in the editing timeline? Also, you are using Timecode Reader, not Timecode Generator? Do your clips actually have timecode? Miscaptured clips (eg. DV Stream, Non-Controllable Device) and non-timecoded source materials (eg. audio files, DVD extracts) have a "dummy" timecode that start at 00:00:00:00. www.derekmok.com
