Importing P-2 footage directly to Hard Drive

Am currently using my HPX-500 DVCPRO camera as a reader to import P-2 clips into the Log & Transfer function of FCP 6.0.2. I would like to import the P-2 media directly to one of my drives instead, and then import into FCP, but I cannot get FCP to recognize the MFX files from my hard drive. Could someone briefly list the procedure.

Thank You, Tom

What do you mean by this? Export from the camera to hard drives? Or record onto a hard drive? You cannot record onto a hard drive...well, you can but not any old hard drive. You need the Firestore for recording to...that is a special hard drive. And if you mean offload the P2 footage from the camera directly to a hard drive without using the computer...look in the manual. There are steps to do this.

But look at the link above.

Shane:

Hadn't read your latest tutorial. It cleared everything up perfectly. I have adopted your excellent workflow and all is well.

Thanks Again, Tom
