Project too new?
January 16, 2008 01:15PM
I'm on 6.0.2 which is as far as i know the newest version of FCP but an editor just sent me a project that gives me an error that says "this project is too new or unreadable." Does this make any sense? As far as i know, she is on 6.0.2 as well since ive never had to upgrade her project files in the past...

Just curious if anyone has run into this...

She wouldn't happen to be from the future would she?? smiling smiley

If she emailed the file, it could have become corrupted in the sending. Have her resend it, but tell her to archive it first (zip it up). That will protect it from corruption going through the email.

In case she doesn't know how...

right-click on the project file and choose, "Create Archive".

We had a similar problem recently. I think 6.02 is not backwards compatible with 6.0 - despite
the obvious work flow problems that causes.

Interestingly enough, the project she sent over email worked, this one was shipped over on the harddrive itself.

6.0.2 is def only compatible with with 6.0.2 but thats what im on so thats the real issue...when she gets back from MacWorld im gonna have her zip it and set it over again...
