changing dvd files to quicktime.

Hello again,

The director I am currently working for has a scene in her movie where the characters are watching a performance art piece on a laptop. She wants me to cut to actual footage from a performance art piece she did several years ago. Trouble is, she brought me a dvd of it with only the video ts and audio ts files --- no quicktime. I have looked online for how to convert the files into a quicktime so that I can work on them in FCP, but am not finding much. It seems like there are applications out there which will perform the operation, but I don't want to put some strange and possibly dangerous software on my computer.

Any ideas? Also, I forgot to say that she has lost the original quicktime to a mishap with a hard drive.

Thanks.

Mpeg Streamclip is your friend.

DxDVD can also do this.

Both are used here by many people without problems. MPEG Streamclip is free.

Thanks guys. I couldn't seem to find the info in the FAQ. Next time I'll search more thoroughly before I post. Thanks though.
