Problem: When edit 16:9 have to render everytime put clip in timeline.

Hello Everyone,

thanks in advance to anyone reading this and especially if you have any advice.

I shot in miniDV PAL on a Sony Z1 with the camera set to 16:9. Then I captured the footage and it just came in as 16:9 without my having adjusted anything on FCP HD 4.5.

Now I have started editing. When I place a clip on the timeline it has to be rendered!!! This is driving me crazy as I constantly have to render for each little edit adjustment I make!!

How can I avoid this????

Thanks everyone!!
Robert

go to your Easy Setup menu
choose DV PAL Anamorphic and press OK
create a New Sequence
open the new sequence and edit one of your clips into it

does it still need to render?

Hi Andy!

Thanks for your reply.

I cannot find "DV PAL anamorphic" in the menus!!????????
There is only a "DV PAL" option!

Thank you!
Robert

PS
In the browser the clips were all automatically checked as "Anamorphic" in the "Anamorphic" column.

Hey Andy!

I think I just figured it out. In the menu for Sequence->Settings>General> Anamorphic 16:9 needs to be checked. Then it works without rendering!!!! What a relief and a timesaver!!

Thanks!
Robert

in the Easy Setup menu there is a small checkbox labelled "Show All" ... if you check that you'll see many more setups including the DV PAL Anamorphic one ... but fair play to you Robert, the only difference between a DV PAL Anamorphic sequence and the normal DV PAL sequence is the extra tick in that Anamorphic checkbox in the sequence settings. kudos for looking it (and finding it) yourself!
