Thanks in advance...this is the best forum ever!

I'm upgrading to Final Cut Studio 2 and a Macpro 2.66 quad at the same time.
No, I'm not in the middle of a project!
The Macpro comes with OS 10.5 and Quicktime 7.2.1 installed.
I am looking for rock solid stability.
My question...should I stick with Leopard, or wipe and load Tiger?
Next...what's the best combination of OSX, FCP and Quicktime for Leopard and Tiger.

Thanks,
Ken Kessie

If it is a NEW MacPro you MUST use Leopard on it due to the updated hardware in the new MacPro. Shane Ross can speak to this specifically.

Ok What's the most stable combination of OS 10.5.x, FCP 6.x and Quicktime?

OH my yes, I can speak with AUTHORITY on that topic.

www.LFHD.net. Look at the NEW SYSTEM entries.

You cannot load Tiger on the new MacPros...they won't allow it. The system prevents it (my dealer tried). In fact, Apple even warns AGAINST installing previous OS versions on the new machines as the new machines are optimized for the new OS (I have a link to the Apple doc in the blog).

BUT, you don't need Tiger. I did because I was to be in a Tiger SAN enviroment. But you can run FCS 2 just fine with a fully updated Leopard system and Quicktime. The latest versions of everything appear to be stable for a few people, including people in the know (Jerry Hofmann).

With the exception of ProKit, I have the same setup running as Ben and it runs just fine. This is on a new 8 core MacPro.

I got the same machine just after Xmas and It had Tiger installed I updated to Leopard, the disk was in the box.
I have same updates as Ben and Joey and all is well.
Even my Tascam FW 1082 controller works.
