Problem playing QT downloaded from DVD
April 16, 2008 07:20PM
I received a DVD from a client and extracted the material using DVDxDVPro, which I have done successfully many times. In this case, however, I did successfully extract it but when I imported it into FCP 6, it plays on my viewer but does not go through my Sony deck properly; the picture freezes on my NTSC monitor. I have checked the RT which is fine. I converted the clip to a FCP QT movie and imported it, but same problem. Now, I am converting it again to a QT movie using the FCP compression to see what happens, but I think it will continue not to play on my NTSC monitor. The video is not the highest quality, but that should not make any difference. Any ideas why this is happening? I have a G5 PowerPC with a 1.8 processor, OS X 10.4.11, QT Pro, and tons of memory.

Was there copyright protection on the DVD? Many decks will lock up when they detect a copyright signal.

No, the DVD was not copyright protected. Of that, I am sure.

Possibly an external monitoring setting has come loose - does other footage still play OK? Or there is a settings mismatch - have you rendered the timeline?
