CPU buzz and whine....

Is there a reason why when using native audio out (headphone jack) I am hearing buzzing and whining from the cpu? It comes and goes, but is usually there and sort of loud at times. It tends to change or even go away temporarily with each click in a window or scroll of the mouse ball. Thanks.

Are you using a capture card? I worked on a system at this company that had this issue when using the AJA Kona 2 as the computer's audio output. The card had no noises when in FCP, but would generate audio noises when interacting with other parts of the computer.

I had it both ways. We started with a Kona card and now it's been removed. Got the noise both ways (although not when using the audio out of the Kona card.)

By the way, it's not a MacBook Pro, which I know has whine issues. It's a Mac Pro 3ghz Dual Quad Core.

Are you hearing this thru speakers or headphones?
