Anybody have any suggestions for how to create the really bad looking titles that sports broadcasters used to use back in the early 70's?

If you watch football game footage from back in the Howard Cosell days, the titles were this garish yellow, low-resolution, and seem to hover independently from the background. I'm working on a football parody piece, and want to get that old, 1970's title feel...

All the FCP Studio 2 tools blend the titles too smoothly and composite too neatly over the footage to create the effect. Other than using no drop shadow, and putting a little motion shimmy on the titles, what else can you do to replicate that old "Wide World Of Sports/Super Bowl II" look for titles?

100% opaque drops hadow - no feather
use some blocky old font.

if youre doing your titles externally (say in after effects) apply the wrong alpha treatment on your fcp timeline, that always results in ugliness.

The earliest days of Monday Night Football with Cosell (circa 9/1970) didn't use electronically generated titles. They were white press-on type on black cards. You could do the same printing out your graphics and shooting them with a camera. Then put them back on your video using a luminance key.
