dvx200 vs 200A

ok so I created an FCP project and shot footage with the Panasonic DVX200 and then shot the same exact footage (lighting, composition etc etc) with the 200A -- NO DIFFERENCE AT ALL. I think the 200 and 200A are the same camera. Of course it's marketing genius to do this. I really don't think we're getting anything better with the 200A -
Unless I see white papers with specific things.

No resolution difference between the two versions. Big improvement in the 200A with noise in the dark areas of the picture. I have the 200 and it is noisy. Thinking about selling it and getting the 200A.

that is a nice cam with a 3/4 chip. I just wonder if it that cheap cause SD video is gonna be gone in 2yrs.

And to be clear, we are talking about the HVX-200 and 200A, correct? The DVX went to 100, not 200...and is a DV camera.

The main difference is how the camera handles low light. The new chip is a half stop more sensative...and that is a huge difference. I have shot with both and notice the difference right away.

J. (what is your first name, BTW?)...there is no such thing as the DVX-200. I google that name and I get nothing...but hits for the HVX-200 or DVX-100. And note the SUPPORTS...1080p. That is not a DV camera. DVX is the designation for DV. HVX is the designation for HD (D - DV...H - HD).

This is obviously a typo somewhere.

maybe it is a typo i was sitting there reading it saying how is it 1080p without being hd.

I was thinking it was an sd camera with a 2/3 or as it is type 3/4 chip which sounds crazy in itself.

heres the link i found it on.

yeah.... that's not real.

the page is made to look like Panasonic's official webpage (and even links to it), but the DVX200A is not a real camera. looking into the source of the page, the image of the camera body is named "ag-dvx100a.jpg". even looking at the title of the page, it says 1/3" CCD 24p/30p/60i, etc.

boy, this thread is just a comedy of blatant errors - i say some moderator should delete it.

Actually this thread now shows up in Google before that fake "DVX200A" page. So I vote we let it stay, for the debunking value.

YES everyone, I meant HVX200 vs HVX200A

My argument is that, when shooting with the two, I really don't see a difference. Maybe less grain, in low light, but even that isn't that much different than the HVX200

Again: this thread has nothing to do with the DVX100 - this is all about the 200 and 200A

Just go to that page and read the very last line in fine print at the bottom.

I see the difference. What monitor are you using to tell the difference? I was using the Panasonic 1760.

The fine print is interesting enough, but be sure to click on sample images!
