"building list of used media"

Hi all, and thanks in advance...

I've Googled this, looked in FAQ Wiki, and in LAFCPUG itself, no help.

I've got a project that has several sequences, and shares a drive with one other project. I've got one project open, red lines through only the 5 clips I want to capture, yet when I start batch capture, I get this box that says "building list of used media", and flashes lots and lots of clips that I've already captured. After several minutes, it stops, and gives me a dialog box to select either the reel # I actually want along with the correct # of clips, and then another choice with no reel #, says there's like 8 clips to capture, with some duration. How do I clear this unwanted list building? I took one of the only suggestions I found, which said to set this project as the logging bin, but it already is set to that, and re-setting it didn't work either.

"Dirt" in the batch-capture process has been a bug since FCP5. Try selecting the offline clips you want to recapture from your timeline, drag them into a new bin, set the new bin as the Logging Bin, and capture that way. Oh yeah, and don't set the main Browser (ie. the whole project) as the Logging Bin -- it causes more problems.
