To our friends in and around Galveston / Houston Texas...

We hope you are NOT HOME TO READ THIS and in a safe place. Galveston Island is going to get hit by a 15 to 20 foot storm surge that the sea wall is not expected to stop. Houston is going to be hit with 100 MPH winds & the eye could pass right through the city.

Good Luck.

Isn't it supposed to come through Houston too?

yep. thats me. im here, in it. and waiting... so far galveston which is ON the coast (houston is about 70 miles inland of galveston) got the brunt of the surge this AM - which was odd. and not much has changed since. but its not due to hit full force for another 3 hours or so (its 10:30 ish and its due to hit 1am ish)... so far its just kinda windy.

about the worst so far is cant find gas or groceries (or much of anything) - but we're well stocked up

several friends and i are holed up im my concrete block office as it seemed the safest place in the area...yay for chili, beer, vodka and hostess ding dongs!

see ya'll on the other side - ha!

Watch out for flying debris...3/4 inch tapes can put a hell of a dent in a mini-van grinning smiley

Seriously...good luck.

How did you fare, Wayne? I saw some pretty scary pictures here ...

we made it through relatively unscathed. Office had a ton of leaks (woke up in a pool of water and a wet phone system) and a few feline conflicts (had friends with cats in tow) Cruised the neighborhood Saturday and it's amazing how many homes had HUGE trees fall but 97% fellinto the street instead of into the home. A little nod maybe to divine intervention...

Most of the catastrophic stuff you are seeing is much closer to the gulf. We are about 60 miles inland.

Both office an home are still without power and may be for several days or more.. But we have access to food ice and petrol so were hangin in there entertaining ourselve cleaning up fallen trees and fences and such. It's funny how nice people get when we all know were equally in a mess...

To be honest It's kinda nice not sitting behind a computer for a few days ; )
- but hooray for this iPhone!

Thanks for your kind wishes

Here in Austin TX we have over 6000 people in our shelters -
Looks like they are going to be here for awhile-

San Antonio has Many more people in shelters than Austin has --

I am in contact with James Hanson the Nasa scientist who discovered
the Global Warming effect --

He was on a show on PBS about a month ago titled -
-- Dimming of the Earth -- watch it --

The Look on James face was very unsettling --
Scared the hello out of me --

I sure Hope he is wrong - but he has been Very accurate in the past -Jay-

I feel you man. When Hurricanes Charley, Frances & Jeanne ripped through Central Florida back-to-back during late August / early September 04, we had no power for a combined 13 days. Power company trucks poured in from all states to help. Transformers were exploding like bombs every few minutes all around us - in all counties.

When the temperature is 90 degrees & the humidity is 90%, it is absolute torture. Fans don't even help at that point.
