smart logging

Hi,

I'm wondering if there is a plug in for fcp that will allow final cut to automatically start logging three minutes from the time code break when it's marked a few frames shy of three seconds. If there is, that would make my life much easier then having to spend the time going back and forth to make sure that I marked the start point after the three second mark.

the answer is no.
but there are other approaches you might want to consider.

if you do a capture now, FCP will capture around the TC breaks.
a lot of people don't really like capture now,
but for me it's the most efficient way to get huge amounts of documentary rushes into FCP.

you could drop the pre-roll to 2 seconds,
but act as if it's 3 seconds when you log.

you could keep the pre-roll at three seconds,
and log as if the pre-roll is four seconds.

this last is probably the most sensible approach.

If you have lots of time code breaks, capture now with the make new clips on timecode break, may be your fastest approach.
