out of sync audio/video

when I play my footage in my log and transfer window the audio and video is in sync, I import it
and it's out of sync and missing some of the footage at the end of the clip.
I've tried 3 different hard drives and trashing my user prefs.
Help please

Give us more informations :

What MAC are you using. ( version of FCP and OS )
What Hardware are you using.
What is your playback device.
What is the format of your footage...etc.

Are you trying to import the video clips cold, or are you using the xml metadata file in the clips folder? The XML file makes importing bulletproof no matter what they did with the camera during the shoot. If you do it without that, it's something of a by guess and by golly process.

In log and transfer, uncheck "remove advanced pulldown and duplicate frames".
