HDV Hell

Hi,

I've been dealing with some HDV decks at work that seem to operate fine, but fcp won't recognize them. I have checked whether I am doing anything wrong about a thousand times, tried shutting down and restarting the systems, etc.

To further the strangeness, originally two of the "broken" decks worked fine (fcp had no problem recognizing them). I can't imagine what the problem is, and have checked several sites including the FAQ wiki of LAFCPUG.

Can anybody tell me, is this the decks or is it me? or is it FCP? Arrrgh!

Sorry to hear about your frustration...

Its difficult to troubleshoot your problem with the information you've provided. A couple of things to look out for -- make sure that your sequence setting is 1440x1080 60i HDV. You should alos create a test DV sequence to see if you can output that to test communication and operation of the deck.

Its been my experience that if the sequence setting is wrong the deck (Sony M25U) won't recognize it. Also make sure the deck is on before launching FCP.

Good luck
