AGP graphic card, iMac, Cinema Desktop?
November 05, 2008 04:28PM
I?m sorry if this question has been asked before, I?ve searched the web and forums for days and I?m still in the dark. I?m running fcp6.0.4, editing HDV from a Sony Z1 on a new iMac. I?ve yet to take delivery of my 24? Dell 2408WFP.
In the fcp manual is states I need an AGP graphics card to run Digital Cinema Desktop to a second monitor.
Does this mean I?m up proverbial creek without a paddle? Is there a way around it? Advise would be much welcomed.

From the FCP product page, "Digital Cinema Display works with any DVI-enabled device"

So, in other words, it should work just fine.

That being said, that setup won't be accurate for color correcting and/or finishing. For that you need to look into some of the external I/O boxes, like the Matrox MXO. (the others have fallen out of my brain). (actually, the MXO is just an "O" box, there's no "I"....but I digress)

There's a lot more to the I/O boxes, like which monitors work best, and I'm not the one to trundle down that path. Others here are more knowledgeable (Shane comes to mind).
