capture scratch redundancy

I've somehow managed to create 2 separate capture scratch folders on a newly added drive, and already have media from different ongoing projects within each.

Can I consolidate the media from these projects -- without messing up FCP's delicate reference hierarchy -- by simply moving them from one capture scratch folder to another, or do I need to recapture? In general, can a project's media, and any folders associated with it, be moved around liberally within a single drive without corrupting FCP's ability to find it?

"Liberally", no. FCP media will usually go offline even if you move it within a single drive. But it's not rocket science -- just reconnect. You should be organizing your media well enough that moving things around isn't done all the time. It's not "delicate" at all. It just puts the responsibility in the user's hands.

And indeed, this is a rare and unintentional departure from standard procedure. Just glad the most logical solution -- reconnecting -- is an acceptable corrective. Many thanks.
