speed change applies to all subsequent clips?

This is becoming such an annoying problem, I have to believe I'm either doing something wrong or that there's a workaround.

I'm working on a project that requires a lot of speed changes. But when I go into REMAP and change the percentage figure for a particular clip, that information remains in place for any clip I load into the viewer. Is it really the case that I must go back into MOTION and reset a fresh clip's settings to 100% every time I want to revert to normal speed?

?????
That shouldn't be. It seems to me you're applying the speed change to the master clip by mistake.

Don't open a clip from its bin in the Browser and apply the speed change right away. Cut a clip into the timeline first, then open up the timeline's version of that clip (the affiliate clip) and then do your speed change.

I was match-framing tails and backing in "replay" style, not even realizing that somewhere along the line, I'd reversed the process of remapping & cutting into the timeline... thus working in master clips!

Thanks for setting me straight.
