eSata and a G-raid Q drive

Hi all,

Just been given a G-Raid Q drive to work from, and connected it up via fw 800 to my intel mac and i noticed that it has an e-Sata port. I am working with HDV footage and rendering out as pro-res and wondered if and how i can use the eSata connection?

You need either an esata PCI Express card or an esata Expresscard, depending on whether you have a Mac Pro or a Macbook Pro.

If you have an iMac or a Macbook, I think you're outta luck.

i suggest the "fasta" card from caldigit. ive had 3 and they are superb!

I think what you have is a G-Drive Q, G-tech doesn't make a G-RAID Q.

What Wayne said is true though, our FASTA-1ex card will work great with a Mac Book Pro,

Joey, of course, why else would I give you a hard time?

My Fasta works awesome so well in fact I'm going to pull All my FW PCIe cards maybe install another Fasta and not use FW again unless I can help it except on my Macbook. Mostly because in OS X 10.5.6 my Tascam 1082 just does not like it when FW drive are plugged in. It get's along quite nicely with eSATA drives.
