Log and capture Preview Disabled???

Hi,

Trying to log an capture DVCpro50 footage onto FCP project using Panasonic 1400 DVCproHD dec with firewire connect. The log an capture window reads "Preview disabled". I have deck control but I can't see an image and I can't capture. This is the second dec I've tried from the rental house and the same issue has come up both times. I suspect its a FCP setting issue... anyone know what to do?

Does that deck allow you to play out DVCPRO 50 tapes? I only know that it has settings for 720p and 1080i...and you must have it in one or the other to capture. It must be in 720p mode to output 720p, and it must be in 1080i mode to output 1080i. I know those decks can downconvert HD to DV...menu 894 or something...in the 800s. But I do not think that deck can play out DVCPRO 50. You need a specific DVCPRO 50 deck for that.

It is a deck issue, not FCP.
