Audio linked but unconnected from video in timeline

What is going on? They will not move together on the timeline. Yes, the video and audio clip icons do have the underline "link" on. And I've unlinked and linked a number of times already to try to get them to link.

This started in FCP on my last project - not sure why. Did I transfer the clips from the P2 cards with wrong settings?

Editing 720 24pn material (on a HD 960x720 timeline at 23.97 fps)

Turn on Linked Selection -- SHIFT-L.
