can't send to Motion ProjectPosted by davko
I'm not exactly sure how you're trying to send to Motion from FCP.
I'm guessing you're clicking "File>send to>" and "Motion" is blurred out. There are a few ways to do that- one is by selecting the clip (or group of clips) on your timeline, control-click, and in the drop down menu, select "send to", select "Motion Project". The other way is to copy the clip into a separate sequence and sending that sequence straight to Motion from the FCP browser. Now, that being said, you may want to export SCQT movies of those clips you're using, then do the retiming, as Optical Flow will analyze the entire file, not just the part you used. That basically causes extremely long render times. Next, I actually use Compressor for retiming, as I was getting render errors on some of the clips i sent it. So that's also an option you could try out. ![]() www.strypesinpost.com
I appreciate the suggestions, and am especially interested in trying out your last one with Compressor.
But I'm still disturbed by the fact that "SEND TO > MOTION" cannot be performed, regardless of source, because the Motion selection just isn't available to me. Why is it always grayed out, and how might I activate it? Many thanks.
Hmm... Is Motion properly installed? Do you get the FXPlugs (eg. Smooth Cam, Bad TV effect) in FCP?
