Practicality of using 2.0 Xeon Xserve Quad to run FCP

I have a 2.0 G5 PM tower. FCP 7 and OSX.6 will not run on it. But I have a 2.0 2 dual Xeons XServe, 4 gigs ram 3 500gb hds running 1.4.11 Server.

I am thinking about moving 10.4 server to the G5 (along with Kerio Mail Server) ad use the XServe as my FCP workstation.

Is this practical? I cant really afford a new MP.

Thanks

I think the two (potential) problems you'll have are

1) Does your Xserve have a video card with enough memory to run FCP?

2) Noise! Can you install the Xserve somehow far enough away from your desk that you'll still be able to think?

1. Not yet. I emailed ATI and Nvidia about that yesturday but have not heard back yet. Right now the G5 has a 9600. That is working for me. So I am not sure what other card is available in PCIe that will work in the Xserve.

2. Yes it does make a bunch of noise. Right now I use the Xserve with another version of compressor. But i find it's so much faster doing the mpeg2 files that I figure the tradeoff is worth it. Besides it's been in my office now for over a year and a half and I'm used to it.
