How do I make a psd look smooth?

I'm editing in SD and the psd document looks horrible the moment I put it in the timeline.
I vaguely remember that there is a way... but that's all.
So what do I have to do?

Is it CMYK?
Have you rendered the timeline?
Fairly vague question.

Set Canvas to 100%, then have another look.

Don't use a DV timeline.

Seriously, no matter how good the picture looks, the instant you drop it into a timeline, it takes on the characteristics of those timeline settings. IF DV/NTSC, then compressed 5:1, 4:1:1 color space. UGLY. DV50 is better, ProRes decent too. HD...even better.

I changed it to 100% and voila: It looks much better.

I'm using Pro Res and well, it's interlaced, it doesn't make diagonal lines look really good but that's normal, right?
