FCP 6.0.6 crashing

I'm working on a nature doc and we're working with Mac Pros (8 core) and dealing with RED and Phantom footage that's all been converted to ProRes. Our systems have been crashing lately with even the small task of saving or adding a transition. It's a feature so the project is pretty big, the two systems are running on 4gb of ram each and are connected through our SAN. Would it help to buy more ram even though FCP only uses 4gigs? any other suggestions?

Looks like it could be a problem with our AJA card, had the system reconfigured to give priority to FCP and also adding a couple more gigs of ram today, hope this solves it!
