How do you import RAW photo files into FCP? - other questions as well

How can I import RAW photo files into FCP?
If not - anyone know of any app that changes raw photos into JPEG / TIFF

PS what i a more favorable image format for fcp? jpeg or tiff?

Virtually any application will do this. Preview might or might not; I forget. But iPhoto, Lightroom, Aperture and Photoshop definitely will.

TIFF. If you want to maintain the latitude you had in the raw format, use 16-bit TIFF.

There used to be a bug with layered 16 bit layered .psds, and I'm not sure if that applies to .tiffs, but if you find weirdness with the .tiff, that might be worth looking at.

You can save out as PSD or TIFF from Preview but if you have Photoshop, Lightroom and the like I would definately use those ones. The options in Preview for the aforementioned file formats are minimal.
