Is it possible to do a standard chroma-key in FCP, and then export the
foreground matte with alpha channel(talking head) for use in external programs
such as after-effects or 3ds Max?

Export Quicktime Conversion, Animation, Millions of Colors +. Make sure that your sequence is fully unrendered before exporting.

Also some animation programs prefer an image sequence- such as a Photoshop sequence or PNG sequence. That gives you more flexibility than a movie file.

Hey strypes, doesn't the new ProRes 4444 support an alpha too? Supposedly less overhead than the old Animation codec I thought...
