Media Manager isn't saving me any space

Today's unexplainable quirk is all about the Media Manager. I've got a two minute sequence culled from two hours of footage. I want to give it a media manage to just keep the footage that I'm using with a few seconds of handles, but Media Manager isn't cooperating.

When I select Media Manager for my sequence (by right clicking it in the project window), choose "Copy" media, and select "delete unused media", there's no space savings at all. The handy bar graph says that the original media is 45.7 GB, and the modified media is 45.6 GB.

This has happened to me a few times before in the past, and I'm not sure why the "delete unused media" function doesn't seem to be functioning.

Any troubleshooting tips?

two things:

1.
in Media Manager, make sure every box with the word "Include" is NOT ticked.

2.
make sure your media has a Reel#.
easy to check in the Browser's reel column.
you can add a reel# there if it doesn't have one.

The project is all DVD rips, and I did not know that about needing a reel name to media manage. Brilliant!
