Which Deinterlace in 3.5?

I learned a while back that the legacy filter for Deinterlace in the Filters pane was "deprecated." Shouldn't be used. Instead use the function in the Frame Controls pane of your Settings window, where the function contains choices for motion compensation, details, antialiasing, etc.

Yet when I bring in ProRes4444 material, we find we're getting better results with the legcay filter-- and the Frame Controls version doesn't do a thing-- none of the settings take effect! I see no difference in the Preview window when doing the left-right thing.

Anyone else experience this?

Seems bizarre; what am I doing wrong?

I heard there were issues with frame controls in FCS '09 (sounds like a class gathering of sorts) where it basically does nothing. The issue was apparently fixed in the last update.

Frame Control changes don't appear in the Preview window. You have to do some tests and check the actual outputs--ideally on an SD/HD monitor.
