i need to monitor HD footage externally for CC and effects. Will this do it?

Yes. The MXO2 doesn't do HD/SD SDI though.

i would be monitoring on an SHARP 32" lcd hdtv (1080 capable).

I am looking for the most inexpensive way out since i am also getting 2 hd panasonic cameras.

this might sound crazy but what i have done in the pass is monitor as sd (cutting in an sd timeline) or burn to disc and watch on the tv making notes for CC changes. I already know that most here would not approve of that method. I get the best results with monitoring it as sd.

This is why i am looking for an option. I am switching to mostly hd production. (720p or 1080p)
