Monitoring 1080 in 720

I know there is a something lost if i am monitoring 1080 with a 720 screen.
The question i have is where are the biggest hits?

If i am attempting to CC 1080 footage and give a look what is likely to be lost in translation when viewed on a real 1080 screen?

Also, i am not use to the offline and online process (don't really understand it fully quite yet). However, if i capture 1080 in pro res 422 doesn't this allow me to do all my post as 720 but then deliver in 1080.
If it does, then wouldn't my grading be translated as expected.

I am looking for a work around to the 720 screens interpretation of the 1080 footage.

black magic intensity

Scaling artifacts may be present in a converted signal, and unless the card is doing the conversion (which will be higher quality than if the TV was doing it, but doesn't look like the BMD Intensity does cross conversion), you may not be sure if the artifacts are introduced during conversion or if it's present in the source signal.

so in my current set up (with the BMD Intensity), the best way to improve my monitoring would be to get a 1080 capable lcd or plasma. right?

Can't spring for the aja just yet.

i have a broadcast monitor but it doesn't do HD. i do have a 32 inch samsung that is 1080 capable.

I also saw this, which i think isn't what it says it is.

Certainly looks like a decent computer monitor. At that price I'll get 2, and use one for the timeline and the other for the bins. Heck. Get an HD broadcast monitor. Doesn't matter whether you have an SD broadcast monitor, and that's besides the point. It's like saying I bought a consumer HD camera, but that's okay, because I have a professional SD camera. Whatever that means.
