M4v Conversion problem
Posted by: Delphinus (IP Logged)

I converted some M4v files into .mov files using MPEG Streamclip (640x480 Quicktime, using Apple Motion jpegA). They seemed to convert OK, except that when I import them into my timeline, they do not play properly in my viewer nor on my monitor. The audio runs fine but the picture freezes. When I stop the playback, the picture jumps to the correct position. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Yeah...convert to DV/NTSC, not Motion JPEG A. That really isn't an editing codec, not one with any real time capabalities to say the least.

Can you be more specific? There are many DVC settings to choose from, but there is none labeled DV/NTSC within the MPEG Streamclip Opyion box. I am opening MPEG Streamclip, Clicking on File, then choosing Export to Quicktime. That launches the MPEG Streamclip box where I can choose my options at the top. In those options there are a variety of DVC settings, but no DV settings. Am I choosing Export to DV(DV35) from the initial File dropdown menu, or one within the Streamclip box?

The very tip top option...COMPRESSION. That is a menu. Click on that and you'll see a list of codecs. The default is Motion JPEG A. Don't click on OPTIONS, click on Motion JPEG A, and then choose Apple DV/DVCPRO NTSC.
