I have yet to try out FCP 7 and was wondering if anyone could comment on whether or not the new Timecode Window will display deck timecode when doing layoffs or captures? I found that this was always a feature Final Cut should offer, but once you hit record (whether capturing or laying off) you can no longer see your running deck timecode.

Sorry, the new Timecode Readiout is only available while editing.

They'd have to build a new readout window during output; not a bad feature request!

It's strange they didn't think of this. Maybe because we're used to reading the decks during output, but I don't see why there shouldn't be a size-adjustable window on FCP as well. Certainly would make it easier to cross-check timecodes when the deck is 50 feet from the station (I've worked those).

Agree. Or when the deck is in another room entirely.

Yeah, it would definitely be nice.
