I inadvertently changed my "Easy Set-up"- audio-video preference to
"non-controllable device",... the screen went black and I cannot get
back into the preferences to change it back, when I click on the
screen platform layout it just goes back to black.... can you help,...
Thanks in advance,.......

Try hitting command-F12. If you've got your Digital Cinema Desktop setting configured to use your primary monitor (which I believe is the default setting), hitting command-F12 will make the whole screen go black, and hitting command-F12 a second time will bring everything back.

In some cases, depending on how you have you keyboard set up, you might need to hold down the 'fn' key and then hit command F12.

You can also can also quit FCP and then trash the FCP Prefs. This will return everything back to default.

Sometimes it's a simple as just pressing Esc.
