Anyone know the scoop on Exec files?

I know I can rename them as .mov files again, but I'm concerned some compression or quality hits may have occurred. I'm seeing more jaggies on footage then I remember. Am I just paranoid?

The media in question had gone through a data recovery process. It's a large amount of media, so I doubt they were all corrupted files. At least not originally.

Files that have been recovered often lose their application-specific icons with no other consequences, and giving them an extension will often restore the icon. However, recovered files can never be guaranteed to be complete; there may be fragments or whole sections missing, which usually but not always renders them unusable by an application that would normally read them. There would be no "quality hit" other than this; what remains is identical to what was there originally. If FCP can read them and use them, count your lucky stars.
