Any way to convert audio to 48k but maintain all TC info (and aux TC?)

Anyway to do this?

Transfer house gave it all as 44.1. We are in 48k. Higher ups want this re-transferred to 48k, but is there any easy way to do this myself?

Working with Prores 422 proxy 1080p 23.98.

I tried compressor, however upon reconnect we lost all of the Aux TC info.

you could try using batch export in FCP.
export as QuickTime Movies,
"audio only" tracks default to Apple Intermediate Codec in my experience, so you should manually chose a sequence setting you want that is set to 48k audio.

i don't know if this will work, just guessing.

all the best,

You can type in the TC manually in FCP.
If you're on FCP7 you can use XML tricks like export the clips as XML from the 44.1 project, move the clips so they are offline, go the compressor way with the destination of the original clips, then create a new project and import the 'old' XML. FCP7 will take the old AUX TC to the files -- BUT!!! these data wont be written to the actual QT data of the movie. So if you use them in another project the AUX data wont be there -- you can still confirm the AUX data for each clip, and then it should be saved to the clip. But I'm not sure about the latter.

I know this doesn't help, but it's a point where to start.

Andreas, your app (cant remember the name sorry) converts to QuickTime Movies, which DO carry TC
doesn't it?
does that only work on BWF files?

Not sure what the heck is going on here. lol. Basically I can do the compressor thing, and reconnect in my project and the info holds. So I guess the key is to not reimport these into another project, always copy/paste. Easy enough.

Okay figured it out. Basically it will stay if I reconnect. But once I close FCP, and reopen the sme project I lose AUX TC info.

However, If I just open up the modify timecode, and semi edit it back to normal it stays. So that is the method I will go.

careful there.
the TC in audio files as seen in FCP is not really TC,

it's just FCP presenting you something,
and can be volatile.

if you have lots of movement between systems & projects you could lose it.

exporting to self contained QuickTime movies will guarantee a solid TC track in the file.

The vid TC is the most important thing, and that is absolutely solid. The AUX TC is easily retrieved by linking back up to the original 44.1 material. For now though it has started/restarted multiple systems with no hitch, so that is a good sign.

In compressor I exported new self contained QTs

Will definitely monitor know to look out for it in the end.
