Opposite Audio Tracks Playing

Why are my audio tracks playing the opposite of each other?

A clip in my Timeline has two mono tracks, A1 and A2. A1 has waveforms, A2 has no waveforms (nothing was recorded on Input 2 as expected). But if I mute A2 (no waves) to listen to A1 (waves) there is no sound. If I mute A1 (waves) to listen to A2 (no waves) I hear my audio.

This even happens when I play the clip in the Viewer from the Browser and use the Audio Mixer window to mute each channel.

I've tried clearing the Waveform Cache with no luck and as I type this I'm beginning to wonder if this is a FCP corrupt preference.

Any suggestions on why this is happening and how I can correct it?

What happens if you unlink the audio (option L) and delete the empty track?

When I unlock and delete the empty track (A2, no waves) I get the same thing, no audio is heard.

And if you delete the track with waveforms, does the one left display anything, or play?

UPDATE:

Problem fixed but I don't know what caused it.

I originally captured my video to two hard drives, non RAID, but when I copied all my clips over to one drive and unmounted the second drive all the audio worked like it should.

I don't know if its a bad hard drive or what but problem mysteriously solved.

Prior to my fix, when I deleted the track with the waveforms the other track did play the audio but displayed no waveforms.
