Thank you Jude. I'm only a small part of it. It is you and the others in this community that have made the last 10 years so much fun and creative. Here's to another 10 years.

Mike:

My most sincere congratulations to you for keeping it going and growing for a decade. I can't believe that we met at that first meeting in Burbank ten years ago. I am very proud of what you have turned the once ultra grass roots small group of people using this new thing called Final Cut Pro running on those B&W G3s into what it is today, a world famous go-to resource for all things FCS.

I hope that you have enjoyed the ride. Best luck for the next ten years.

Wow, so in internet years LAFCPUG is like 80 or 90 right?

Great site with a great community. Even though I'm more 'lurker' than 'regular' it's still amazing to see how much it has grown.

Funner to attend than AA meetings. Although we do often start out with "Hello, I'm Shane, and I am an editor." "Hello Shane."

Wow! I remember it like it was yesterday. smiling smiley Living in the San Fernando Valley and finishing up school at Cal State University, Northridge, I first heard about final cut pro from my TV Production instructor who attended NAB 1999. I was excited about the news, being frustrated with my Light Blue Powermac G3 350mhz Adobe Premiere system which would often sloooow down and crash on an 8-10 minute project with video shot from my gorgeous dv footage from my Sony VX-1000. the finger smiley Hanging out on 2-pop.com, I see a post announcing the very first Final Cut Pro User Group meeting to be held at Video Symphony. I drive up to Burbank to attend that first meeting and enter the room not knowing anyone. The first person I remember seeing is this gentleman wearing a cap sitting up front of the Final Cut Pro system who later introduces himself as Ralph Fairweather. There were about 30-40 people in the room. The meeting got started by Mr. Michael Horton, and we were all asked to stand up and introduce ourselves and what we do(try doing that at the next meeting! the finger smiley Ralph Fairweather demos Final Cut Pro 1 and the rest is history...I feel very proud and honored to say I attended and was a part of that first meeting. Congratulations Michael! I can't believe it's been 10 years and have fond memories of that very first meeting. thumbs down

Hard to believe that 10 years have passed; a long ways from my first "toe in the water" with FCP-2.

Great job, Mike & the rest of the gang. You've been an invaluable resource.
