capturing DVD in FCP3

Hello-

I haven't used my FCP3 and my old Power Mac G4 in years and am running into a problem. I digitized some analog tapes onto DVDs (through a stand alone DVR, not the G4), now I want to capture those DVDs into FCP3.

Is it possible to play them in my G4's built in DVD player and capture in FCP3? I've tried this and can't figure it out.

Do I hook up my DVR to the G4 and use that as my source deck?

I'd appreciate any advice.
