SD card error puzzle

my assistant filmed today and when he was done he checked the clips on the camera (HMC150).

When he got to the edit bay. His PC wouldn't recognize the card. Meaning acted as if there had not been any card put into the drive. Sop it did nothing. Which by default i just blame on the fact that he should not have used a pc for anything;-)

Then he used a belkin sd reader on his mac. it sad invalid drive type or unable to read card. He's not completely sure.

He placed it back into the camera and now it will not recognize the card either.

Has anyone seen this?

How is it avoided?

and is there a way of recovering the data?

Weird! It sounds like, at some point, the camera fried the SD card; otherwise, there at least would be a format on it (so it'd be read by any pc (Mac or Win). As for avoiding that from happening, the only one I know is to always set the safety latch on the card after video-recording.
As a last resort, I would try to read that card using Disk Utility on a Mac. And, if it mounts, apply repair.
Good luck to your assistant!

Can the clips be viewed on the camera?

Oops I missed the part of putting it back in the camera.

I think Pro Soft Engineering may have a solution to recover data from cards

yep its gone.

disk utility can see it but the repair and verify options are gray.
prosoft (demo) can get to it either.

I have no idea why he used Kingston.

NOTE TO ALL - Kinston sd cards are Greta GARBO. This never happens with my scan disk sdhc.
