mpg1 and mpg2 import into FCP

<HTML>Hi,
I recently recorder an mpg clip from a PC onto a CDR.
I open the CDR on the MAC, copy to desktop....then in FCP I try to import, after the first second, it's all green and crunched...sometimes it even freezes up. I tried a mov file which was converted on the PC using Cleaner5....same problem.
Any ideas anyone ?</HTML>
<HTML>You really can't, or can't with any quality. MPEG one and to a lesser extent two are distribution codecs. They have already had so much information thrown away in the compression that to reconstruct is impossible.

<HTML>Hi Michael,
I also tried with a .mov file.
In fact I first tried taking the mpg and with cleaner5 flattened it into a quicktime file....still wont work ?</HTML>
<HTML>Won't work, I'm afraid. ANY distribution codecs are impossible to reconstruct in any decent quality if any quality at all.
