FCP 5.1.4 PPC transitions do not workPosted by vt81400
hello,
today i experienced a weird problem. When launching FCP from dock icon, a message appeared explaining that could not start up. Options appeared: Ignore, Reset Prefs, and one more i cant remember. I clicked reset. Then restarted... Nothing. I use PPC DC 2Ghz and installed leopard 10.5.8. I uninstalled with cleanup app. Re-installed FCP and cinema tools. Then from a backup of pref folders etc. i copied back to the fresh folders my past settings. FCP started up. All ok. I imported an SD PAL from a hi8 camera for a customer conversion process. All appeared ok. I edited timeline etc. Then I decided to add transitions to each new scene clip they recorded. I dragged some transitions to the timeline and NONE is working ! There is an X symbol next to transition name when it is on timeline. i have 4 FXscript and some CGM DVE in my lib. None work. The colour correction tools though work ok. Is it an issue of Tiger/Leopard filter incompatibility or do i have to do something else to make them work back please ? any help is appreciated best wishes for the new month --- Vassilis Triantafyllidis www.LemnosExplorer.com
Tom,
what do you mean by handles please ? This is how my timeline looks like. (scshot.jpg) Screenshot of timeline video is about 60mins and each clip long enough. My FCP timecode is 01:00:00;00 dropframe --- Vassilis Triantafyllidis www.LemnosExplorer.com

Jon: I quit all apps, run CleanApp program that i guess deletes the files and relevant prefs extensions etc, automatically from HDD.
After that i restarted, and installed FCP and cinematools from the DVD bundle disks. I have FCP studio bundle. --- Vassilis Triantafyllidis www.LemnosExplorer.com

Indeed did not have enough handles. I followed the instructions on webpage and worked ok. I also tried splitting with Blade tool -12 and + 12 from the Outgoing clip in timeline then deleted the segment @ the beginning of incoming clip, and thhis also allowed me to place a transition (i added 4sec) and worked also. But not sure if this is the right way compared with ripple tool procedure. this is the trim edit window screenshot TRIM pic regards, --- Vassilis Triantafyllidis www.LemnosExplorer.com
