How to get video from personal DVD into FCP?Posted by DrE
Thank you. I'm using MPEG Streamclip but can't get the sound to come on. What file do I open that merges the sound and video together? I jsut get the video with no sound. What am I missing here?
There is only one video folder called Video_TS. In that folder are 7 files called: VTS_01_2.VOB VTS_01_1.VOB VTS_01_0.IFO VTS_01_0.BUP VIDEO_TS.VOB VIDEO_TS.IFO VIDEO_TS.BUP I really appreciate your help. Many thanks, Elaine
Hi,
I can play the DVD in DVD player with sound, so there is sound. I also get sound on youtube. So my sound is working. I've tried opening all the VOB files and no sound each time. In Streamclip, I go under file, open files, and select the vob- that doesn't work. I've also selected open DVD, that doesn't work. I always video, but no sound. There must be some sound set wrong. In my system pref. it's set to internal speakers, built in output, up the entire way. What am I missing? Many, many thanks, Elaine
Elaine,
Try opening one of these files in MPEG Streamclip: VTS_01_2.VOB VTS_01_1.VOB At the bottom of the main window, there are 3 pop-up menus: Video Track, Audio Track, and Audio Mode. Check these (they should show a value if a track of the associated type exists). Let us know what values are given for each menu. -Dave

Miraizon's Cinematize Pro 2 for US$129.00 is effortless at this.

Just a wild guess, but I'm wondering if the audio was recorded wrongly as 5.1. Mpeg Streamclip can only decode 2 channels at a time. Do you have options under the Audio PID button?

------------------------------------------------------- > No audio at all in MPEG Streamclip In case you are having trouble getting MPEG Streamclip to "cooperate" with you, you could try going to the link Loren provided a few posts back (for Cinematize 2 Pro). ![]() Following the link, you'll end up on a page that has an overview of how to use Cinematize. They (Miraizon) offer a free 15-day trial, so you can download the application and see if that works for you... -Dave P.S. - I personally use Cinematize 2 Pro and think it's a pretty good tool to have (just a user; not connected to Miraizon, except as a customer).
Thank you so much everyone. Here's what I did. I ended up downloading HandBrake for free and it worked! The other program mentioned has a free trial but it only works for like a few minutes or something like that. Great recommendation though.
I also tried mactheripper, but found the HandBrake did the trick. So thank you again. I so appreciate all your help! Best wishes, Elaine
This software package is good.
[www.mp4converter.net] BUT, try to get the older version 5.0 because the version 6.0 is simply bad. Maybe on any site of P2P file sharing. You can get just the DVD ripper to extracts few seconds of a 2 hours DVD.

The company that sells this software (mp4converter.net) seems like one of those spamming companies that sells repackaged public domain software (which may or may not be any good) but is more interested in harvesting personal data than anything else. Buyer beware. -Dave
