"Reverse Telecine" 24+1 back to true 24

i have captured a film from a PAL Digibeta Master.

the film had been telecined at 24fps to the 25fps tape.
so what happens is that every 12 frames an extra field is added.

this gives you 12 "true" frames, and 13 "merged" frames every second, where you get one field from frame "A", and one field from frame "B"

does anyone know if there is some way to get this back to a simple 1 film-frame per video-frame.
Nattress Standards Converter??

i think i could do it with 2 layers of the film,
both sped up to a certain percentage, with NO BLEND,
a strobe filter on the top layer set to some 12-13 pattern,
and a field shifting filter...

or, if the speed trick doesn't work i'd have to cut out a frame every 12, etc, etc

but its late at night, and i cant think straight!

thanks folks,
nick

Nick,

Graeme's Standards Converter will do what you need:

Quote

PAL to 24p via remove 1 field every half second method

I don't know if Compressor can do this (like it can 2:3 pulldown removal with the proper settings).

I was wondering if cinema tools does it, but I won't keep my hopes up on that front.

"Graeme's Standards Converter will do what you need:"

thank, Dave, i missed that on the web site, but see it now in the downloaded instructions.
still i'm having trouble.

have you used it?
the "start frame" of the removal process is obviously crucial,
but i haven't mastered that yet.
will write to Graeme, i guess.

thanks, again

Sorry, Nick, but I haven't used that particular plugin...

I'm sure that Graeme will help you figure things out.
