FCP 5 asking for Serial number
March 18, 2011 03:00AM
Hi All--

I just had my G5 finally die so I purchased a used G5 exactly like my other one-

I removed and installed my system drive with all software and all video drives -
FCP 5.1 --G5 dual 2 gig --OSX Leopard

When I opened FCP and the other pro apps it asked for the serial number-
I typed in the serial number and it says the serial number is Not Correct -

I did a search on the LAFCP anf found a post by Michael Horton about fixing this-
here is the link to the page Michael posted -
-- Link to fix page ---

so I deleted the ProAppsSystemID and reentered the serial number and Still No Love -

What could be wrong??? My son found me a Crack serial number for FCP on the web
and the crack serial number opened up FCP-

I know I am entering the Correct serial number any Idea what could be wrong--

Thanks--Jay--

Thats almost always a corrupt system ID file problem, so not sure what is happening here. I'd try again. Perhaps use Digital Rebellions pref manager too. or just to be sure, use "FCS remover" and re-install. But the bug here is the system ID file. [www.digitalrebellion.com]

Gotta make sure you have the dashes in between serial number bits. Very important, and sort of un-intuitive.

Thanks Michael and Mike-

I guess I will have to reinstall everything - OucH--
Yep I had the dashes -- is kind of wacky they do it that way--
Thanks--Jay--
