Swamp People Trailer...How did they do that?

Hey Guys,

We're gearing up to shoot a new Show Open for one of out clients and recently ran across a visual effect we'd very much like to consider. I think I'm familiar as to how this is done, but any insight as to how exactly this effect is done would be a huge help. My thought is a bank of DSLR's on a rail system. Has anyone executed an effect like this within FCP or AE? Thanks guys, here's the link: [www.history.com]

Thanks,

That is called BULLET TIME...and if you want to see exactly how that is done, watch the DVD Extra on THE MATRIX. That's where it was first developed. Yes...a LOT of still cameras set to go off fraction of a second after the other.

That promo pretty much is proof that history no longer has a place on the HISTORY Channel. It is now, more than ever, the RED NECK Channel. Change the name...lose HISTORY...and get over it. Like SPIKE TV did with the NASHVILLE NETWORK.

I believe that the cameras on the rail actually shoot a frame at precisely the same time, electronically controlled. Then when those pictures are assembled one gets this frozen-in-time track round effect.

Best

It also can be with multplie camera rigging in 3ds Max, and other animation packages

I think Red Giant has a physics time freeze plugin, I can`t remember if it was for Smoke, AE or FCP but that can do the job. Wow Spike is now called Nashville Network???

Sorry...SPIKE TV used to be the COUNTRY MUSIC CHANNEL. CMT. Centered in Nashville. Pardon my slippage.

OH my! Had no idea but then it makes perfect sense. "Red Neck Channel" really is the perfect name. What fun it must be to be the programmer. Wonder if they have done the "History of Chewing Tobacco" yet?

That's funny. Here in Oz we call it the Hitler channel. I guess we have slightly different programming to you guys..

It used to be that. We called it the WWII channel. Now Shane has it right.

Actually Versus has a pretty darn big "Redneck Channel" feel with bull riding, hunting & fishing. I walked away from gig negotiations because doing a graphics package about strapping dead meat to the hood of a car isn't something I would be proud to have on my demo reel for my children to see eye popping smiley
